About the Report
In July 2012, NZ Fashion Tech commissioned Origin Creative to conduct a survey and produce a report in order to investigate and establish the current and future needs of the New Zealand fashion, garment and sewn industries, from an economic, educational, industry training and career perspective.
NZ Fashion Tech felt there was no relevant, current research available within the industry, from a tertiary education providersʼ perspective.
Purpose of the Report
The report and its analysis is quantitative and qualitative in nature. It attempts to establish and explain the variety of factors that have a bearing upon the success of this complex and highly skilled industry.
The qualitative questions asked allowed ʻfreedom of feedbackʼ as a way to learn more, directly from those who are at the sharp-end of the industry.
NZ Fashion Tech is committed to responding to the current and future needs of the industry, from an educational, training and career progression perspective.
It is envisaged that this report will become a catalyst to forge further links with industry and continue to address its training and educational requirements.
It is also intended that the results obtained will be used to form a basis for action and further study by NZ Fashion Tech and to inform other targeted and interested parties.
NZ Fashion Tech would like to sincerely thank all of those who took time to complete this report.
We believe the information obtained is of great value to our organisation and the wider fashion, garment and sewn industries.
