It's been a very busy first month for all our new classes of 2017.
Our year 1 Certificate in Fashion Technology classes have have had their orientation, and been hard at work getting to grips with our industrial sewing machines.
Our year 2 Certificate in Pattern Design classes have already finished two flat-pattern projects - the cot blanket and skirt.
Our year 3 Diploma in Fashion Technology classes have dived straight into their first design projects and completed their knitwear and lingerie garments.
In addition there have been field trips to local museums to see exhibitions on historic costumes, outfits from Split Enz and the Beagle Boys. There have been class comunication exercises where, once split into several groups, the students made a portion of an outfit and then put all the pieces together to see what they had created.
To round the month off our students went to a private screening in both Auckland and Wellington of, 'Bill Cunningham' - a movie documentary of the world's most influential fashion photographers.
Bring on next month!
