In 2014 Fuji Xerox approached NZ Fashion Tech with the idea of producing paper dresses fit for the runway using their latest Versant 2100 Press. Our Certificate in Pattern Making students were up for the challenge.
The inspiration for our students came from a fashion look book provided by Republik (advertising agency for Fuji Xerox). Students selected designs and textures that suited their vision and were given two weeks to make their masterpiece come to life.
On the evening, a fictitious fashion designer named Alfonso Versant unveiled his 2015 fashion line of paper dresses all printed on our state-of-the-art Versant 2100 Press. The creations did not fail to impress the some 200 people at the Mercedes Benz showroom. Themes of nature were evident throughout the entire 12-piece collection, although each garment had a very different take on the Versant brief.
